Advance notice : Workshop, Disaster Salvage

A workshop organised by the Canterbury Disaster Salvage Team will be taking place at Christchurch Art Gallery in mid June-ish on best practise in the event of a disaster (as identified by the hands on workshop we had last year).  It will be dealing with preventive issues, good storage, and display. We are hoping to get as many areas covered as possible.

Flyer to follow with finalised dates and other information in the near future.

Disaster preparedness – an idea from the Getty

Lynn Campbell is currently  a Guest Scholar (September–December 2012) at the Getty Conservation Institute.
Lynn writes:

Off to New Orleans and San Francisco in the near future to talk to them about disaster preparedness but thought I would just show you what the Getty does in its libraries and offices.
The bar lifts up to retrieve a book and goes down again when not being used.

Update [13 Nov 2012]
