Canterbury History Foundation – Upcoming event

Local Canterbury heritage legend Topsy Rule will be honoured at this year’s Jim Gardner Lecture.  Topsy (of the Sumner-Redcliffs Historical Society)  will be presented with the A C Rhodes Memorial Medal

With her late husband, Stan, Topsy helped to found the Sumner-Redcliffs Historical Society and is still its secretary.  Read about Topsy’s contribution to local heritage on the CHF website.

The 2010 Jim Gardner Lecture is on at 2.30 pm Sunday 25 July in the Christchurch Girls’ High School auditorium, Matai Street.

The annual, free public lecture will be given this year by Professor Geoffrey Rice of the Department of History, University of Canterbury.  Defining Victoria Square is the title of his lecture on one of Christchurch’s most iconic urban spaces.
