Heritage Week 2008

Christchurch Heritage Week is an annual event which aims to raise awareness of our special heritage places, and the importance and benefits of conserving them.

This year is the 16th annual Heritage Week and is held from the 17-27 October. Our theme for 2008 ‘RETROspective: Christchurch Life, Architecture and Design 1940s-1970s’ will focus on the 30 years following the end of World War II, from immediate post – war times, to the Rock and Rolling ’50s, the swinging ’60s, and through to the disco decade of the ’70s.

The goal of the RETROspective theme is to celebrate the innovation, achievement and milestones of this period by drawing on aspects of architecture and design, popular culture, music, transport, and fashion.
